In a significant development, the Presidency has officially confirmed the appointment of Lt Col. Nurudeen Yusuf, the Aide-De-Camp (ADC) to President Bola Tinubu, as the new Elemona of Ilemona land in Kwara State.

This appointment comes in the wake of the passing of his father, the late Oba Yusuf Omokanye Oyekanmi, the former Elemona, in May 2024.

The decision to install Lt Col. Yusuf as the traditional ruler of Ilemona was unanimously supported by the community’s kingmakers, who hailed his numerous acts of kindness and humanitarian efforts towards the community and its surrounding areas over the past few years.

The Presidency, in a statement, emphasized that Lt Col. Yusuf has fulfilled all the necessary requirements and received the authorization as per the customs, traditions, and ethics of the Nigerian army. With great humility, the ADC has accepted the decision of his people to assume the mantle of leadership as the incoming Elemona of Ilemona.

Furthermore, the Presidency revealed that the approval of the Kwara State Governor and the ratification of the state’s traditional council of chiefs are also in place. Consequently, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will present the staff of office to Tinubu’s ADC on Saturday, July 13th, 2024 (today).

Upon his installation, His Royal Highness, Oba Nurudeen Alowonle Yusuf, Fiwadade Ilufemiloye Oyekanmi II, will appoint regents to oversee the affairs of the throne until his retirement from the military service.
