Police authorities in Enugu State have discovered a large quantity of fake and expired drugs in two warehouses at Mallam Kato Market, Kano.
A statement from the spokesman of the Kano State Police Command Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa noted that the discovery followed a report from “Good Samaritan”.
“On receipt of the report, the Commissioner of Police Kano State Command, CP Mohammed Usaini Gumel, FIPMA, PSC drafted a team of detectives to the scene,” the police spokesman added in the Sunday statement.
“The following suspected fake and expired drugs were recovered from the two warehouses; (1) Five Hundred and fourteen (514) cartons of Emistxmin/Emstifer Syrup, (2) Two Hundred and Nineteen (219) cartons of Lisinopril Tablets 5mg, (3) Seven (7) cartons of Amlodipine Tablets 5mg (4) Eight Seven (87) cartons of Atenol 50mg (5) One Hundred and Twenty (120) cartons of mixed and forty (40) cartons of additional products (6) Three (3) cartons of Frusemide injection. All the products were successfully evacuated and handed over to (NAFDAC) for further investigation.”
He quoted the police commissioner as thanking those who gave information that helped in the discovery and asked them to keep it up.
