In a significant operation, the police-led Joint Task Force (JTF) targeted a suspected criminal camp in Agulu-Ezechukwu, Anambra State, resulting in the death of one suspect. The raid revealed a cache of suspected stolen goods, including an ash Toyota Sienna (Reg. No. EKY 03 FF), an unregistered white Mazda Hilux, a motorcycle, and various mechanical tools.
Also discovered were a variety of household items, such as pots, gallons, groceries, mattresses, and clothing, alongside other potentially incriminating materials.
State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, reported the incident in a statement released on Friday in Awka. He noted that the operation involved coordinated efforts from the State Security Service, army, navy, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, and the Anambra Vigilance Group, which commenced in the early hours of Thursday.
“The criminal camp was dismantled, and one armed suspect was eliminated during the Agulu-Ezechukwu raid,” Ikenga confirmed. “The recovered items are suspected to be either stolen or used for criminal purposes.”
The operation entailed a seven-hour gunfight between the task force and the armed suspects, with ongoing searches for other fugitives based on blood trails found in the vicinity.
