The Edo State Police Command, 28-year-old Martin Uwaifo, a confessed member of the Vikings secret cult, was apprehended.
Operating under the disguise of a fake National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) number plate on his Lexus RX350 SUV, Uwaifo was nabbed by the Anti-Cultism Unit during a routine stop and search on Okabere Street, Benin City.
Caught in a web of crimes, Uwaifo’s arrest was part of a broader sweep that led to the apprehension of 15 suspects involved in various offences, including murder, cultism, advance fee fraud, and illegal possession of suspected Indian hemp.
The State Police Command, committed to eradicating criminal elements, paraded the suspects, revealing shocking details of their activities.
David Ibiso (40), masquerading as a medical doctor and registered travel agent, was arrested for fraudulently obtaining ₦11,000,000 from his victim, Josephine Egharevba.
Meanwhile, Clinton Iyen (27), a suspected cultist, was apprehended following credible information about his involvement in a fatal shooting along Igun Street, Benin City, where he and his accomplice claimed a life.
As the State grapples with a surge in cult-related killings, SP Nwabuzor reaffirms Police Commissioner Funsho Adeboye’s unwavering commitment to purging the region of criminal elements.
The arrests shed light on the covert tactics employed by criminals, emphasizing the need for heightened vigilance and law enforcement efforts in Edo.
