In a recent development, the Ondo State Police command has apprehended Bakare Ayobami, a 22-year-old individual, on charges of procuring a vehicle using a fraudulent bank alert.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, disclosed this occurrence in a formal statement issued on Wednesday in Akure.
Under the backdrop of a Cybercrime case reported to the Police on October 26, 2023, Bakare Ayobami, 22, hailing from Ode Irele in Irele Local Government Area of Ondo State, emerged as a central figure.
Ayobami, on October 20, 2023, around 1800hrs, visited a car dealership operated by Filani Oluwaseun and Ogbaguwa Oluwasola at Ikare Road, Owo.
There, he initiated the purchase of a Toyota Corolla 2006 model, amounting to N4,650,000.00, utilising a forged bank alert.
Through meticulous intelligence gathering, operatives from the Special Anti-Kidnapping Squad apprehended Ayobami Bakare and his associate, Abdullahi Abubakar, 26, in Ekiti.
The recovered stolen vehicle surfaced in Osogbo, Osun State.
Additionally, authorities retrieved another vehicle, a Toyota Camry 2014 model valued at N6.2 million, suspected to be part of illicit transactions.
The inventory of seized items further extended to technological gadgets, including an iPhone 12 PRO Max valued at N600,000.00k, and an iPhone 14 PRO, all procured via fraudulent transactions.
Acknowledging his involvement, the suspect, Ayobami Bakare, confessed to the crime.
Consequently, he awaits legal proceedings, poised to face charges upon the conclusion of the ongoing investigation.
