The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced that it will not recognise the National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party led by Kabiru Turaki, referencing existing court judgments and ongoing legal proceedings.

In a letter dated 22nd December 2025 and signed by its Secretary, Dr Rose Oriaran-Anthony, INEC stated it could not act on requests to acknowledge or publish the list of national officers claimed to have been elected at the National Convention held on 15th and 16th November 2025 in Ibadan.

The commission clarified that its decision was based on current court rulings and pending litigation regarding the leadership crisis within the PDP.

INEC emphasised that it would be inappropriate to recognise any factional officers while the matter is still before the courts.
