The member representing Umaisha/Ugya constituency at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Hon. Sa’ad Ibrahim Abdullahi, has resigned his membership from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He made this known when he led a delegation to the palace of the Ohimege Opanda, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, to inform him of his decision to quit the opposition party in the state.
Hon. Sa’ad Abdullahi informed the traditional ruler that internal crisis plaguing the party at both state and national levels, prompting his decision.
According to him, he has tendered his resignation letter to the ward PDP Chairman, informing him that henceforth, he should no longer be recognized as a PDP member, stressing that his supporters will soon follow suit.
The lawmaker said the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Nasarawa State is facing numerous challenges, including a protracted legal battle that has reached the Court of Appeal in Makurdi, Benue State, stated that this has hindered the party’s progress and effectiveness.
He expressed his concerns about the party’s internal wrangles and factionalism, which he believes have weakened its ability to provide a strong opposition in the state.
He also lamented the lack of cohesion and unity among party members, which has led to a disconnect between the party’s leadership and its grassroots supporters.
Hon. Sa’ad Ibrahim Abdullahi’s decision to defect from the PDP to APC is seen as a significant blow to the party’s fortunes in Nasarawa State.
As a member of the state House of Assembly, he has been a key figure in the party’s legislative agenda. His departure is likely to create a ripple effect, with potential implications for the party’s performance in future elections.
He disclosed that joining the APC is the best decision he’s taken, saying it will enable him to participate in the central government and attract development to his constituency.
According to him, he will officially notify the Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, to receive his blessings.

Hon. Sa’ad called for prayers for lasting peace in the entire Toto Local Government Area, enabling development to thrive and also urged people to support the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule to ensure his success.
Responding, the Ohimege Opanda, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, thanked Hon. Sa’ad Abdullahi for the visit and wished him success in his future endeavors.
