In Kaduna State, Hon. Edward Percy Marsha, a leading chairmanship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has commended Senator Sunday Marshall Katung (Kaduna-South) for sponsoring a bill to establish a Federal University in Manchok, his constituency.
Speaking to journalists after a public hearing at the Senate on Tuesday, Marsha expressed optimism that the proposed university would boost the region’s economic fortunes and provide quality education to his people. If approved, the Federal University, Manchok, would be the first federal institution in the Kaduna-South Senatorial District.
Marsha emphasized that the establishment of the university would address the issue of out-of-school children and increase the number of students pursuing professional courses in the region. He praised Senator Katung for achieving this milestone in his first year as a Senator and expressed confidence that the bill would be passed swiftly, leading to a significant turnaround in the region.
The proposed university, according to Marsha, would produce transformational leaders who can drive human emancipation in scientific, technological, political, and socio-economic development in Southern Kaduna. He noted that the university would provide opportunities for students to study professional courses, which have been limited in the region.
Overall, Marsha applauded Senator Katung’s efforts to establish a federal university in Manchok, which would have a profound impact on the education and economic landscape of the region.
