Victor Osimhen has officially rejoined Galatasaray on a permanent basis, marking a triumphant return to the Turkish champions following a successful season-long loan.
The Nigerian striker, accompanied by his family, was greeted with an enthusiastic welcome in Istanbul, as thousands of jubilant fans flocked to the airport to celebrate his return.
Dressed in Galatasaray’s iconic red and yellow, Osimhen expressed his delight at reuniting with the club, viewing it as a continuation of his journey with a team he cherishes.
His arrival came after weeks of intense discussions between Galatasaray and Napoli, during which he turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal to remain in Turkey.
The scenes at Istanbul Airport were spectacular, with supporters chanting Osimhen’s name in a show of affection as he committed his future to the club. The striker, visibly touched by the warm reception, conveyed his happiness at returning to what he considers his footballing home.
Galatasaray’s vice president, Abdullah Kavukcu, detailed the careful planning behind the transfer, indicating that the club had worked diligently since January to secure the deal without external financial backing. He assured fans that the remaining formalities would be completed shortly and encouraged continued confidence in the club’s leadership.
Osimhen’s contribution to Galatasaray last season was remarkable, scoring 37 goals across all competitions and helping the team achieve a domestic double. His decision to stay reinforces his bond with the club and its supporters, despite Napoli’s attempts to steer his career in a different direction.
The transfer, reportedly valued between €15-18 million annually, reflects Galatasaray’s determination to retain one of Europe’s most coveted strikers. With the move now finalised, all eyes are on Osimhen as he seeks to build on his stellar performance and guide the club to further success.
As celebrations continue in Istanbul, Osimhen’s return not only enhances Galatasaray’s attacking prowess but also underscores the club’s capability to attract top talent on the international stage.
