The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has accused the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) of being used as a political weapon by the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

In a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the party alleged that the EFCC is targeting opposition leaders by reopening old cases while ignoring allegations against APC members.

“These are politically motivated summons, not fresh investigations,” Abdullahi said. “Selective prosecution is the death of justice.”

The ADC claimed that corruption cases against certain politicians disappear once they join the ruling party, while decade-old allegations against opposition figures are revived and publicised.

It warned that such actions erode public trust, undermine the fight against corruption, and signal “a dangerous slide into dictatorship.”

The party urged Nigerians, civil society groups, and the media to hold the EFCC accountable, stressing that “the Commission belongs to the people, not the ruling party.”
