The Head of Monitoring at the Oodua Integrity Group, Mr. Niyi Oyewole, urged the Chairman of the National Hajj Commission, Alhaji Zikrullah Kunle Hassan, to ignore baseless allegations filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over the handling of a ₦90 billion federal grant.

At a press briefing, Mr. Oyewole referenced Alhaja Kadija Oluwarotimi, a recent pilgrim and caterer for the Hajj, who defended Mr. Hassan.

“All accusations are born out of jealousy and envy,” said Oluwarotimi, highlighting the quality of food and services provided by NAHCON, noting the organization’s distinction between its responsibilities and those of state pilgrims boards.

The Oodua Integrity Group called on the EFCC to dismiss the unverified accusations and focus on genuine anti-corruption efforts.

“We strongly condemn any witch hunt against Mr. Hassan, his team, and the NAHCON commissioners, who ensured a successful 2024 Hajj,” stated the group. They emphasized that the funds were properly utilized, despite being released late.
