The Founder and Chief Executive Officer of ONONO ONIMISI FOUNDATION, Onono Onimisi, has pushed back against claims that men from Kogi State are not romantic.

Onimisi, in a Facebook post shared on Monday, described the narrative as misleading and rooted in unfair generalisation.

She argued that what some critics interpret as a lack of romance is often a reflection of discipline and moral standards upheld by certain Kogi men in relationships.

According to her, men who discourage public displays she termed inappropriate or insist on respect within marriage are wrongly labelled unromantic.

She noted that many Kogi men were raised in homes where fathers demonstrated love, empathy and responsibility towards their wives, shaping their approach to family life.

Drawing from personal experience, Onimisi said her late father maintained a loving and respectful relationship with her mother, adding that disagreements were resolved peacefully.

She maintained that stable homes contribute to raising responsible children, attributing the success of many Kogi indigenes to strong family values.

Onimisi warned against sweeping statements, urging individuals to address personal experiences without projecting them on an entire group.

The post has since attracted mixed reactions on social media, with some users backing her position, while others insisted that experiences with relationships differ widely.
