In a swift response to the unfortunate demise of Governor Rotimi Akeredolu, Raimi Olayiwola Aminu, the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing in Ondo State, has tendered his resignation within a mere 24 hours of the governor’s death.
Aminu formally conveyed his decision to step down in a letter addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, Princess Oladunni Odu, with the resignation set to take effect from Thursday, December 28.
Expressing his heartfelt gratitude, Aminu cited his conscientious choice to resign in light of Governor Akeredolu’s passing.
Several aides of the late governor had already resigned shortly after the announcement of Akeredolu’s demise.
Aminu, reflecting on his roles as Senior Special Assistant on Lands & Infrastructure, Special Adviser on Lands, Works and Infrastructure, and Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, expressed gratitude to Governor Akeredolu and the people of the state for the opportunity to serve.
In his resignation statement, Aminu conveyed sincere appreciation to “our dear Arakunrin” (Governor Akeredolu) and the citizens of the state, underscoring the significance of the service rendered during his tenure.
This swift development raises questions about the future of the state’s infrastructure and housing management, as Aminu’s departure adds to the recent series of resignations within the late governor’s administration.
