The Olisa Metuh Initiative has donated N10 million to the Legend Golden Care Foundation, a leading rights advocacy and humanitarian non-governmental organisation. The donation forms part of the activities marking the upcoming 60th birthday of Chief Olisa Metuh on 28th November, 2025.

Presenting the cheque in Abuja on Wednesday, 19th November 2025, Dr. Ikenna Ubah, representing the Initiative, explained that friends, family, and associates of Mr Metuh pooled resources for charitable projects in his honour. This follows his specific request that no newspaper advertisements be placed for his milestone birthday.

The donation will support the payment of fines for selected bailable offenders and provide assistance to widows in need.

It marks the beginning of a week-long series of charitable activities to celebrate the birthday.

The programme includes a courtesy visit to the traditional ruler of Nnewi on 25th November, followed by a charity visit to the Old Priests’ Home.

On 26th November, the Initiative will visit a Motherless Babies’ Home with relief materials and cash gifts. That same day, a further N10 million will be donated to offset the outstanding bills of indebted patients at Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital (NAUTH) in Nnewi.

The Initiative will also make donations of cash and relief materials to the Nnewi Correctional Centre. Activities there will include the commissioning of a brand-new borehole, the donation of a skill acquisition centre, and a ground-breaking ceremony for a new project. Later that day, the celebrant will host a lunch for people with physical challenges at his compound in Umuanuka Otolo, Nnewi. This will include the donation of crutches, wheelchairs, and grants to over 200 individuals.

Furthermore, on Mr Metuh’s birthday on 28th November, there will be a medical outreach, a Holy Mass celebrated by the Catholic Bishop of Nnewi Diocese, and the launch of a skill acquisition programme for youths and women. The day will also feature a massive empowerment programme for traders, widows, and pensioners over 75 years old with grants, as well as the distribution of empowerment kits such as sewing machines and grinding machines to artisans, alongside food parcels.

The celebrations will conclude with a thanksgiving service on 30th November at the Guiding Light Assembly in Abuja.

Patricia Akor, Programmes Manager at Legend Golden Care Foundation, described the donation as “life-changing,” noting that it will help free indigent inmates convicted of minor offences across Nigeria.
