The Convener of the COUNTRYFIRST Movement, Professor Chris Mustapha Nwaokobia Jnr, has praised Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State for what he described as remarkable strides in infrastructure and governance.

In a statement issued from Houston, Texas, where he is receiving medical treatment, Nwaokobia commended Mbah’s “Tomorrow is Here” agenda, noting that it has transformed the state into a “formidable construction site.”

He highlighted the commissioning of five brand-new bus terminals — a first in Nigeria and the West African subregion — as a milestone that would ease transportation and boost the state’s appeal for business and tourism.

According to Nwaokobia, Mbah’s administration has also initiated 260 smart schools, 260 primary healthcare centres, hundreds of kilometres of intra-state roads, an international conference centre, and a five-star hotel.

Other projects, he said, include a modern market complex in Nsukka, expanded security infrastructure making Enugu one of the safest states in Nigeria, and improved access to clean water.

Nwaokobia described Mbah as part of a rare group of leaders “making a difference” in Nigeria, urging other state governors to emulate his example.

He called for greater recognition of high-performing leaders and urged Nigerians to hold underperforming officials accountable regardless of political, ethnic, or religious affiliations.

The activist concluded by expressing hope that with more resources and true fiscal federalism, leaders like Mbah could deliver even greater results.
