The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) remains united and is poised to challenge for the presidency in 2027, Asiwaju Moshood Shittu, former National Chairman of the Alliance National Party, has said.
Speaking during a media chat in Abuja, Shittu dismissed rumors of a faction within the NNPP, calling them baseless and aimed at creating disaffection.
“NNPP, under the leadership of His Excellency Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, remains a united and formidable opposition party,” he said.
Shittu noted that the Alliance National Party, which he previously chaired, was among the parties that merged to form the NNPP, making it stronger and more viable.
He alleged that a group, referred to as the Anubonam faction, has been using the party’s name for personal gain, urging the public to disregard their claims.
He further highlighted the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) recognition of Kwankwaso’s leadership, citing the presentation of the NNPP’s new flag, constitution, and logo at an event in Abuja attended by party executives and leaders.
“The outstanding leadership qualities of His Excellency Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso have strengthened the NNPP across the six geopolitical zones of the country,” Shittu said.
Looking ahead to the 2027 general elections, Shittu expressed confidence in the NNPP’s capacity to win the presidency, governorships, Senate, House of Representatives, and state assembly seats.
He urged members not to be distracted by the actions of the faction, emphasizing that only INEC has the authority to determine party authenticity.
Shittu also invited Nigerians seeking a credible political platform to join the NNPP, assuring them of ample opportunities within the party.
