The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has commended Nigerian women for their significant contributions to the country’s socio-economic and political development, calling for increased gender equity and inclusion in leadership and governance.

In a statement marking this year’s International Women’s Day (IWD), the party recognized the strides made by women in leadership, enterprise, and innovation.

The statement, signed by NNPP’s National Publicity Secretary, Ladipo Johnson, emphasized the need for stronger support for women’s rights and gender-sensitive policies in national affairs.

While acknowledging the impact Nigerian women have made over the years, the party noted that they deserve greater representation in decision-making processes.

It highlighted the importance of this year’s IWD theme, “Accelerate Action,” stressing that integrating women’s interests into government policies and institutional frameworks is essential for national progress.

“This year’s celebration is particularly significant, coming 30 years after the Beijing Declaration, which reaffirmed that women’s rights and empowerment are fundamental to a just and equitable society,” the statement read.

The NNPP urged stakeholders to prioritize policies that uplift women, stating, “Empowerment of our women is empowerment of society because of their crucial roles in the family and nation-building.”
