Nigeria’s Quadri Aruna kicked off 2025 with a significant victory on Thursday by defeating British champion Liam Pitchford 3-1 in the Round of 32 at the WTT Star Contender Doha in Qatar.
The game played at the Lusail Sports Arena saw Pitchford secure the first set 12-10, but Aruna bounced back 11-9, 11-9, 11-9 in the last three sets to pick the win and progress to the Round of 16.
Aruna will face Spain’s Alvaro Robles in the Round of 16 on Friday. (NAN)
