The Niger Delta Consolidated Youth for Progress (NDCYP) has expressed its strong support for Minister of State, Defence Bello Matawalle’s recent efforts to integrate the Command Control Computer Communication Information System (C4i) of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) with the Falcon Eye surveillance system of the Nigerian Navy.

This initiative, the group explained, is aimed at enhancing the security of Nigeria’s maritime space and promoting economic prosperity.

In a recent visit to NIMASA’s C4i center in Kirikiri, Minister Matawalle inspected the operational model of the facility, demonstrating his commitment to bolstering national security through cutting-edge technology.

According to the NDCYP, this visit underscores the Minister’s dedication to fostering synergy between government agencies, an essential component of effectively addressing national security concerns.

Eric Doraface Dickson, Chairman of the NDCYP, emphasized the importance of enhanced collaboration between the Nigerian Navy and NIMASA. He noted that improved information sharing and seamless coordination between these entities are crucial for combating maritime crimes and ensuring a secure maritime environment.

“We commend Minister Matawalle for his forward-thinking approach to modern security and national defense. His recognition of the synergistic potential between NIMASA’s C4i system and the Nigerian Navy’s Falcon Eye system is a testament to his understanding of contemporary security challenges,” Dickson stated.

The NDCYP also praised President Tinubu for appointing Matawalle as the Defense Minister, highlighting that this decision signifies the administration’s commitment to fostering effective inter-agency collaboration. Such collaboration is vital for leveraging the full capabilities of Nigeria’s security infrastructure.

The NIMASA C4i center plays a pivotal role in the Deep Blue Project, employing advanced technology to facilitate the real-time sharing of security information among various assets such as Special Mission Vessels, helicopters, aircraft, fast intervention vessels, and specially purpose-built armored vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Nigerian Navy’s Falcon Eye system provides real-time situational awareness along Nigeria’s coastline through a network of radars, electro-optic systems, and automatic identification system receivers.

The integration of these two systems is expected to substantially enhance the surveillance and monitoring capabilities of both NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy. This will significantly improve the effectiveness of maritime security operations, deter illicit activities, and ensure the safety of Nigerian waters.

“The NDCYP is confident that this synergy will not only secure the maritime domain but also bolster investor confidence in the sector, thereby contributing to the growth of Nigeria’s Blue Economy.

“It is imperative that government agencies work together seamlessly to achieve common goals and effectively tackle security challenges in the maritime domain,” Dickson added.

The NDCYP remains steadfast in its support for Minister Matawalle’s vision for integrating the NIMASA C4i and Nigerian Navy’s Falcon Eye systems. They believe this strategic collaboration will lead to a more secure maritime environment and foster economic growth through enhanced investor confidence.

The NDCYP is committed to promoting development, peace, and security in the Niger Delta region. Through advocacy, community engagement, and strategic partnerships, the group aims to ensure prosperity and sustainable growth for the region and its people.
