Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have dislodged six notorious drug hotspots in Kano State, arresting 15 suspects and recovering a cache of illicit substances.

The raids targeted drug joints at Farm Centre, Kofar Nasarawa, Diga Nasarawa, Dakata (Zango), Filin Polo, and Hausawa areas, following intelligence-led assessments of locations linked to drug trafficking and substance abuse.

Mr Sadiq Muhammad-Maigatari, Public Relations Officer of the Kano Command, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, quoting State Commander Mr Dahiru Yahaya-Lawal.

“We remain steadfast in our commitment to sustaining pressure on drug hotspots within Kano and beyond,” Yahaya-Lawal stated. “While we continue to employ targeted enforcement operations, we are also intensifying non-kinetic strategies, including public sensitisation and community partnerships, to address the root causes of substance abuse.”

Recovered Substances

Operatives recovered cannabis sativa, pentazocine injections, pregabalin, and Exol-5 tablets during the raids.

Warning to Traffickers

The commander issued a stern warning to those involved in the illicit drug trade, stressing that the agency would not permit criminal elements to operate with impunity.

“All those engaged in this illicit business will never see peace unless they repent and embrace legitimate enterprise,” Yahaya-Lawal said.

Investigations are ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court upon conclusion of the process, he confirmed.

Appeal for Public Support

Yahaya-Lawal appealed to residents to support the agency by providing credible information that could assist in identifying and dismantling other drug networks across the state.
