Undiandeye opened the tournament to mark the commencement of the game at the TYB International Golf Resort and Country Club Course in Abuja.

Undiandeye said the aim of the golf kitty was to mark one of the concluding activities for the training year of course 32 of the college.

He said that it was also intended to have an intellectual body that is in a fit and proper shape for war, especially at strategic and operational levels.

“Today’s event brings together the camaraderie and conviviality amongst golfers and those who identify with the college.

“It will  help participants to relieve some of the pressure of the intense academic activity that goes on in the college as they begin to wind down from the tedium of the last one year.

“We are happy that this forms a big part and, in fact, a chunk of the easing off as these gentlemen and ladies begin to wind down,” he said.

The Commandant of NDC, Rear Adm. Olumuyiwa Olotu, said that the NDC graduation golf tournament was one of the activities to mark the graduation ceremony of its course 32.

Olotu, who  was represented by the College Secretary, AVM Titus Dauda, said that the college was not just about intellectual activities but also places high premium on the physical fitness of participants and staff.

According to him, it is also a means of relating with one another,  especially now that the participants are about to pass out.

He thanked Undiandeye for taking time out to honour the college and to participate in the golf tournament.

“We wish you all the best,  and it is our desire that at the end of this activity you go back to your various destinations safely and more fitted than the way you came,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that NDC has maintained the tradition of treating its participants to golf kitty and other activities to end its academic period annually.

The participants, who were inaugurated for the course in September 2023, were drawn from the Nigerian Armed Forces, para military;  Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs),  as well as allied nations.

They passed through series of strategic training at the Nigeria’s apex military unstitution and would be graduating on Aug. 23, with President Bola Tinubu expected to be the Special Guest of Honour.

Other activites lined up for the graduation ceremony include Jumuah and Inter – Denominational Church Services, TOMBOLA, Sports Fiesta and Graduation Lecture to be delivered by the Former President of Tanzania, Jakaya Mrisha Kikwate. (NAN)
