This follows a meeting in Abuja between the NCTC National Coordinator, Maj. Gen. Adamu Luka, and Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, where both parties emphasised the need for stronger inter-agency cooperation to address evolving security threats.

Maj. Gen. Luka highlighted the importance of intelligence-driven operations, capacity building, and community-based approaches in tackling insecurity, noting that modern security challenges require coordinated efforts across all levels of government.

He commended the Taraba State Government for its proactive engagement, stressing that effective counterterrorism strategies depend on timely intelligence sharing and institutional synergy.

Governor Kefas, on his part, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security through partnerships with federal agencies, including the NCTC and the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).

He said the state is implementing measures to improve surveillance and early warning systems, adding that collaboration with national security institutions would enhance preventive responses and protect lives and property.

The engagement underscores ongoing efforts to reinforce Nigeria’s security architecture through integrated strategies, with a focus on disrupting terrorist networks and improving resilience in vulnerable areas, particularly in the North-East.

Observers note that the partnership could pave the way for expanded technical support and joint interventions to address security challenges in Taraba and neighbouring states.
