Nigeria Association of Women Journalists announced that NAWOJ Kaduna State Chapter will commence a series of activities under the theme “Voices of Impact 2025: Women, Media & Social Change” beginning Wednesday, 29th October 2025.
The activities will start with a Prison Visitation at the Kaduna Correctional Centre to commemorate Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary, followed by a Medical Outreach at Sabon Gero Community, off Millennium City, Kaduna, in celebration of the International Day of the Girl Child.
These was contained in a communique issues after it’s monthly general Congress jointly signed by the Communiqué Drafting Committee included Juliet Ekwenugo (Chairperson) and Hauwa Mohammed (Secretary said , the main event will hold on Saturday, 1st November 2025, at Arewa House, Kaduna.
NAWOJ enjoins members, partners, and the general public to participate fully in these transformative programs aimed at amplifying women’s voices and advancing social change.
NAWOJ Kaduna reaffirms its unwavering commitment to upholding the ethics of journalism while continuing to advocate for women’s empowerment, child welfare, good governance, and community development across Kaduna State and Nigeria at large.

The Congress expressed deep concern over the epileptic power supply being experienced in some parts of Kaduna State. It urged the State Government and relevant agencies to urgently intervene to improve electricity distribution, as the persistent outages continue to hamper economic activities and affect the quality of life of residents.
Commendation on Climate Governance Performance
NAWOJ Kaduna commended the Kaduna State Government for emerging in third position in the Nigeria Climate Governance Ranking, describing the achievement as a remarkable milestone that reflects the State’s commitment to environmental sustainability and climate responsibility.
Concern Over Activities of Scavengers
The Association expressed serious concern over the rising menace of scavengers in various parts of Kaduna State. It noted that beyond posing health and environmental risks, some of these scavengers have reportedly been involved in burglaries and theft, breaking into people’s homes and carting away valuables under the guise of collecting scraps.
NAWOJ therefore calls on the Kaduna State Government and relevant security agencies to regulate, monitor, and sanitize the activities of scavengers to curb criminality, safeguard communities, and promote public safety and environmental hygiene.
The Congress further applauded the ongoing Measles Vaccination Campaign, urging parents and caregivers to ensure full participation to safeguard the health and well-being of children across the State.
The Association also commended the State Government’s readiness to host the 2026 NIPR Week, noting that the event will strengthen professional collaboration and promote the State’s image nationally.
