Namadi Unveils Armed Forces Emblem Appeal Week With N9m Donation

Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa on Thursday inaugurated the 2024 Armed Forces Emblem Appeal Week with N9 million donation.

Speaking at a ceremony on Thursday in Dutse, Namadi announced the state government’s donation of N5 million and N500,000 personal token to the legion.

He commended the war veterans both fallen and living for making invaluable sacrifices to keep Nigeria a united country.

The governor urged Nigerians to reciprocate the gesture by appreciating their heroic efforts to the country.

“I, therefore, invite all those present here to donate to the cause of these veterans, their widows and families,” he said.

Also, Mr Bala Usman, Chairman, Local Governments Association of Nigeria (ALGON), announced N100,000 donation by each of the 27 local government councils of the state.

Usman, who is also the Chairman, Dutse Municipal Council, donated N300,000, to the legionnaires.

Similarly, the Speaker, Jigawa State House of Assembly, announced N1.5 million donagion on behalf of himself and 29 legislators.

Moreso; the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Bala Ibrahim, donated N50,000, and announced N20,000 donation by each of the State Executive Council (SEC) members.

The Head of the State Civil Service (HoS), Alhaji Muhammad Dagaceri, announced N20,000 donation by all Heads of the MDAs, while the Commissioner of Police, Mr Ahmadu Abdullah donated N150,000 on behalf of officers and men of the command.

Other donors included Technical Advisers to the governor N10,000 each; Special Assistans N50,000 each, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) N10,00, Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) N10,000, Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) N20,000, Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS) N50,000, Jigawa Hisbah Board N20,000, and Jigawa Correspondents’ Chapel N50,000.
