Namadi launches construction of College of Nursing Science, Hadejia

Gov. Umar Namadi of Jigawa on Sunday inaugurated the construction of the College of Nursing Science Hadejia, in Hadejia Local Government Area of the state.

Speaking at the ceremony on Sunday in Hadejia, Namadi said the project was part of his administration effort to ensure adequate and qualified manpower in the health sector.

He said that the project estimated at N5.5 billion was for the permanent site of the institution.

The governor added that the project was also part of efforts to provide effective healthcare services to the people.
“The project is divided into two phases, the first phase comprise of structures that will cost N3 billion and road landscaping which will cost N2.5 billion.

“The second phase will gulp a total sum of N2.5 billion for road landscaping, among others, to be completed in 18 month as agreed with the construction company handling the work.

“We also target one general hospital for each of the 30 constituencies in the state and one primary healthcare facility at each of the 287 wards of the state.

“In preparation of this notable and gigantic programme, we deem it necessary and urgent to make a solid plans to ensure adequate and qualified personal that will man these facilities.

“We almost achiev one PHC par political ward, we also reached large percentage on the provision of general hospitals in each of the state constituencies,” the governor said.

Namadi stated that the government had established one specialist hospital in each of the three senatorial zones of the state.

“As part of our plans to have adequate and qualified personal to man the both primary, secondary and tertiary health institutions, government has sent over 109 student to Cyprus to study medicine in addition to many other studying medicine here in the country.

“With the three collages of nursing science and midwifery at Birninkudu, Babura and this one in Hadejia, I’m optimistic that very soon nurses and midwifery workers will be available and possibly exported to other state.

“Government is ready to provide all support and encouragement to teacher and the students in all the collages and the collage of health technology in Jahun through the provisions of mordern teaching and learning apparatus,” he said.

In his remarks, the Emir of Hadejia, Dr Adamu Abubakar, commended the governor for the gesture.

Abubakar said the project was not only beneficial to the Hajejia emirate, but the state and the nation at large.

He therefore, called on the people in the area to make good use of the opportunity by enroling their children in the school. (NAN)
