The Air Component of “Operation Fansan Yamma” has successfully dismantled a significant bandit stronghold situated in the Dunya Hill and Batauna Forest areas of Giwa Local Government Area, Kaduna State.

This information was disclosed by the Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force (NAF), Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, in a statement released on Saturday in Abuja.

Akinboyewa detailed that the strategic airstrikes were executed on November 12 as part of the ongoing air interdiction initiative in North West, referred to as “Operation Farautar Mujiya.”

He noted that these locations have long been utilized as safe havens for bandit groups due to their dense vegetation and the natural cover provided by various caves.

The primary aim of the airstrikes was to dismantle entrenched criminal networks and diminish their operational capabilities.

According to Akinboyewa, the air assault was preceded by thorough intelligence gathering, which pinpointed high-value targets, including crucial logistics hubs and concealed armories utilized by the bandits.

The operation resulted in the neutralization of numerous combatants and the destruction of significant stockpiles of weapons and resources essential for the bandits’ activities.

“Since the initiation of this intensified campaign, credible local sources have reported that bandits are fleeing, with their formerly secure enclaves thrown into disarray.

“In a testament to the operation’s success, multiple reports have emerged detailing the escape and liberation of several kidnapping victims who have managed to regain their freedom amid the upheaval inflicted on their captors.

“The NAF remains committed to conducting these precise airstrikes to incapacitate the criminal organizations terrorizing the Northwestern region, thereby providing a strategic advantage to our ground forces.

“This sustained effort not only underscores the Armed Forces’ dedication to restoring peace and security but also instills renewed hope in communities that have long endured the threats posed by banditry.

“Further updates regarding the outcomes of Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA are anticipated in the coming days,” he remarked.
