Afrobeat musician Seun Kuti has ruled out any possibility of reconciliation with fellow Nigerian artist Wizkid, declaring his grudge permanent.
In an interview with Selah Meditate, Seun dismissed suggestions that the long-running feud had been resolved.
“No, what are you talking about? Please, let’s move on. I don’t want to talk about that,” he said, before adding: “My grudge for Wizkid is on for life because you don’t say things about my dad and think it’s fine. There is no coming back from that.”
The son of legendary Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti made clear the dispute is deeply personal, rooted in comments he believes crossed an unforgivable line.
Origins of the feud
The public rift dates back to early 2026, when tensions flared on social media following comparisons between Wizkid and Fela Kuti made by the former’s fanbase.
Seun viewed the comparisons as profoundly disrespectful, responding sharply to dismiss any notion that his father’s cultural impact could be rivaled. The situation escalated when Wizkid appeared to make dismissive online remarks, widely interpreted as an attack on both Seun and his father’s legacy.
A heated exchange followed, cementing an irreparable divide. Since then, both artists have remained at odds, with the dispute continuing to fuel debate across the Nigerian music industry.
