The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle on Tuesday donated N20 million to victims of last Friday’s flood disaster in Gummi Local Government Area of Zamfara.
Matawalle presented the cash assistance to the Emir of Gummi, Justice Lawal Hassan.
The minister, who was represented by the State Chairman of APC, Tukur Dan Fulani, commiserated with victims of the disaster and urged them to remain patience and expect better recompense from  God.
“This cash assistance is an emergency response support to the affected families pending the outcome of the emirate’s verification committee report,” Matawalle added.
The minister expressed his commitment to always contribute in alleviating to the sufferings of the people affected by the flood.
Matawalle prayed to God against a repeat of such disaster.
He appealed to wealthy individuals in the state to provide immediate assistance to the victims.
Receiving the donation, the Emir of Gummi expressed appreciation to the minister for the quick response to the victims.
“This is timely, it would cushion the effect of the disaster on the victims,” he said.
The emir assured of timely and judicious distribution of the money to the victims.(NAN)
