Masari’s Actions May Cost APC North-West Support, Group Tells Tinubu

A pro-democracy group, the Partnership for Democratic Awareness and Good Governance (P4DAGG), has accused Presidential Political Adviser Ibrahim Masari of playing a role in the removal of former Minister of Housing and Urban Development Ahmed Musa Dangiwa.

Dangiwa and Wale Edun left the Federal Executive Council earlier this week following a viral statement announcing their replacements. While many Nigerians saw the development as a dismissal, the Presidency later issued a statement claiming that both officials had resigned.

Reacting to Dangiwa’s exit, P4DAGG alleged that Masari, a fellow indigene of Katsina State, orchestrated Dangiwa’s removal. The group claimed Masari has repeatedly used his position to pursue personal interests at the expense of the state’s development.

P4DAGG further alleged that rather than attracting federal projects to the state, the presidential aide has acted in ways that undermine the state’s development.

According to the group, the President risks political backlash in Katsina, and some states in the North West region, ahead of the 2027 elections, should Masari’s actions be left unchecked.

While urging anti-graft agencies to investigate Masari, the group accused him of living beyond his legitimate means, alleging that he has acquired luxury assets, including a private aircraft and high-value properties in Katsina and Kano.

“He bought the House of Aminu Dantata in Katsina for N3bn. In Kano, he purchased the House of Sayyu Dantata for N1.5bn. He also bought multi-million-naira shopping malls in Kaduna State and Abuja. He currently owns two private jets. And we ask: how much is his salary?”

The Group also claimed that, in an attempt to extort them, Masari has been engaging some political actors with promises of appointing them Director General of the Tinubu Campaigns ahead of the 2027 elections. He allegedly demanded N4bn from one of the individuals seeking to be made DG of the campaigns.

Similarly, the Group accused Ibrahim Masari of portraying key political figures in the North West as bad persons to the president and noted that ‘this is someone who has no political/electoral value. He cannot even deliver his ward for the APC’.

P4DAGG urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to beam a searchlight on Ibrahim Masari, warning that such conduct could harm the administration’s anti-corruption stance and weaken the ruling APC’s support in the North-West.
