A 35-year old man, Nensi Momoh, who allegedly indecently assaulted an eight-year-old girl, was on Tuesday dragged before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court.

The defendant, whose address was not given, is facing a charge of indecent assault of a minor (name withheld).
The Police Prosecutor, ASP Johnson Okunade, told the court that Momoh committed the offence on Jan. 8 in Ado-Ekiti.

Okunade stated that the defendant, a neighbour living on the same street as the girl’s parents, lured her into his room and indecently assaulted her.

”The defendant and the victim live in the same area, he saw her on the streeat and called her into his room where he indecently touched her body,” he said.

The prosecutor said that the offence contravened Section 149(1) and (2) of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble witnesses.

The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Counsel to the defendant, Mr Sunday Balogun, prayed the court to grant his client bail, promising that he would not jump bail.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr A.O Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N100,000, with one surety in like sum.

He adjourned the case until Feb. 27 for hearing.(NAN)
