Liverpool are making significant progress in negotiations to sign Bayer Leverkusen right-back Jeremie Frimpong, according to football transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.

In a statement released on Tuesday via X, Romano disclosed that the Premier League club have taken substantial steps towards securing the Dutch defender, including initiating discussions with Leverkusen regarding the structure of his €35 million release clause.

“Liverpool are advancing in talks to sign Jeremie Frimpong after contacts reported last week,” Romano stated. “I understand #LFC approached Bayer Leverkusen to discuss the structure of the €35m release clause.”

Romano further mentioned that discussions are also ongoing with the player’s representatives, with Frimpong demonstrating a strong interest in a move to Anfield.

“Talks are also underway on the player’s side, with Frimpong eager to join Liverpool,” he noted.

Frimpong played a pivotal role in Leverkusen’s Bundesliga-winning campaign and has attracted the attention of several top European clubs.
