LG Electronics has used its six-episode Make Life Good reality series to showcase how technology can address everyday challenges and support community development across Africa.

The pan-African initiative, produced in partnership with MultiChoice, a Canal+ company, featured community transformation projects in Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya.

Hosted by actress Jessica Dlamini, the series brought together prominent Africans who returned to communities that contributed to their personal and professional journeys.

The beneficiaries included schools, vocational training centres, children’s care facilities and youth-focused community spaces.

According to LG, the interventions were designed not only to renovate facilities but also to create environments that support learning, wellbeing, skills development and opportunity.

The company deployed a range of technologies during the six episodes, including washing machines, dryers, InstaView refrigerators, NeoChef microwave ovens, dishwashers, OLED and QNED televisions, XBOOM audio systems and DualCool inverter air conditioners.

In the first episode, former Nigerian goalkeeper William Okpara led the transformation of a school sports facility where young athletes lacked adequate laundry and changing-room facilities.

LG provided the facility with a washing machine, dryer and XBOOM Stage 301 audio system.

The company said the intervention was aimed at providing a cleaner and more convenient environment for the young athletes.

In South Africa, mountaineer Saray Khumalo spearheaded the transformation of a community facility with an InstaView refrigerator, NeoChef microwave oven and dishwasher.

Another intervention featured award-winning filmmaker Adze Ugah, who partnered with the BBM Foundation’s Bold Men Skills Programme.

The vocational training centre received a 100-inch LG QNED television, XBOOM audio system and DualCool inverter air conditioner.

LG said the upgrade was intended to provide trainees with a more modern and comfortable environment for vocational and digital skills development.

Esther Munyi also featured in the series, supporting the transformation of a children’s care facility with an InstaView refrigerator, NeoChef microwave oven and washing machine.

The company said the intervention improved food storage, meal preparation and other daily operations at the facility.

The fifth episode focused on providing a safer and more supportive communal space for young women rebuilding their lives after hardship.

The season finale featured Perpetual Kendi, who transformed a youth-focused facility with LG audio and Smart TV solutions.

Speaking on the initiative, Dlamini said the project was about more than physical transformation.

“What makes Make Life Good special is that it goes beyond transformation. It celebrates gratitude, purpose and giving back,” she said.

She added that the series demonstrated what could happen when technology and people were brought together for a common purpose.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of LG Electronics Nigeria, Hyoung Sub Ji, said innovation should extend beyond the development of products.

“At LG Electronics, we believe true innovation extends beyond technology. It is about creating solutions that improve lives and help communities thrive,” Ji said.

He said the initiative demonstrated LG’s commitment to using its technologies to address everyday challenges and support communities across Africa.

According to the company, the Make Life Good series reflects its philosophy of combining innovation, community action and social responsibility to improve people’s quality of life.
