From Solomon Attah,Lafia

The governorship candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) in Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Yakubu Maidoya, has debunked speculations making the round that its presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso was going to step down for Atiku Abubakar of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the February 25 presidential election.

Addressing Local Governments and Wards chairmen of the party at his campaign office in Lafia, Maidoya said, the speculations are the imagination of disgruntled elements within the PDP to distract Kwankwoso in the coming election.

The Nasarawa NNPP Guber candidate, alleged that PDP members are afraid of the rising popularity of the NNPP’s presidential candidate in the North, and as such, are doing everything to discourage it members to throw their weight behind Kwankwoso.

He said, never was there a time Kwankwaso met the PDP’a presidential candidate to discuss such an alliance.

He said, “There was never a time our presidential candidate, Dr. Kwankwaso met with PDP presidential candidate over such matter. So to us in the NNPP, those were mere allegations sponsored by the PDP.

“The PDP and it’s presidential candidate have seen the rising popularity of our presidential candidate and the fact that Abubakar cannot match Kwankwaso in the coming election, and have resorted to untoward means to get at our candidate.

“But all their plans will fail because Kwankwaso is well accepted across the country and will win the presidential election by wide margin against Atiku Abubakar.
