Kogi 2023; Senator Aidoko Joins Governorship Race

Senator Atai Aidoko Ali who represented Kogi east Senate both in the 7th and 8th Senate has finally picked nomination form to run for the governorship slot of Kogi state under the People’s Democratic Party PDP slated for November, 2023.

Aidoko who was one of the early aspirants picked the nomination form along with his supporters across the state, stating his intentions to repositioned the state that had find itself in a pitiable situation under APC.

A two term member of the House of Representatives between 2007-2011 and 2011-2015 before moving up to the red chamber in 2015.

Senator Atai Aidoko who served at various committee’s at the green chamber was former chairman, house committee on Federal Capital Territory FCT before joining the red chamber in 2015.

At the Senate he served as member of various adhoc committees and rose to the chairman Senate committee on inter governmental affairs at the 7th Senate and also became chairman Senate committee on Sustainable Development Goals SDGs during the 8th Senate.

Aidoko was an active member of the 8th Senate that resisted threats to illegally removed the principal officers of the Senate under the leadership of Senator Bukola Saraki and stoutly fought the inclusion of fulanis as members of Kogi east traditional council introduced by the state government.

Senator Aidoko rallied round the red chamber and condemned the move by the state government and also convened stakeholders meeting to chart a new course for the betterment of Kogi east, among the three Senatorial zones of the state, Kogi state at large .

A silent achiever , Senator Aidoko provided employment opportunities, social and economic independent to the people of Kogi east through provision of light, transformers, hospitals, schools, water and empowerment to the people of Kogi east between 2011-2015.

A ranking member of the senate, Senator Aidoko had contributed on the floor of the senate to Issues of national importance among many other issues.

His decision to throw in the towel as the next Kogi Governor is to salvage the state from the many years maladministration of APC led government under Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello.
