Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris says that government will construct and upgrade 300 kilometres of rural roads across the state.
Idris said this on Wednesday, when he commissioned the 6.5 kilometres Malisa-Kurya-Maruda rural road in Gwandu Local Government Area (LGA) for construction.
“I am going to construct 300 kilometres of rural roads across the state and the roads have been identified for construction, upgrade, scope improvement and maintenance in the first phase of the rural transformation agenda,” he said.
He also said that the rural communities faced challenges in accessing transportation to market and other essential services in the state.
“This is why the work on all the identified roads will continue unabated until completion.
“We are committed to ensuring that rural communities are not left behind, agriculture and other social services will continue to receive our attention.
“This is in consonance with the rural transformation agenda of my administration, to make life more meaningful to people at the grassroots,” Idris said.
He directed the contractor to execute quality job and urged the people to monitor all projects closely.
In a similar development, the governor also commissioned the construction of Rini Junction-Gidan Jodi-Garu Road in Augie LGA, under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP).
He further said that his administration would soon embark on the construction of five kilometres of township roads in Argungu LGA.
“My administration will expend N5 billion empowerment package to 50,000 beneficiaries across the state to mitigate the present economic situation in the country.
“Insha Allah, by next month, 50,000 people will benefit from N100,000 each, totalling about N5 billion,” Idris said.
Earlier, the Commissioner for Agriculture and Natural Resources, Alh. Shehu Muazu, commended the governor for his developmental projects, particularly the construction of rural and urban roads.
Also, the state Coordinator of
