On Sunday evening, Katsina State Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda was involved in a road accident along the Daura-Katsina Road, sparking widespread discussion on social media.

The incident was first reported by social media user Mohammed Jammal, known as White Nigerian, who tweeted about the accident. He stated, “Reports indicate that Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State was involved in a car accident while traveling from Daura to Katsina. He sustained a fracture and is currently receiving treatment at the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Daura. Thankfully, he has been stabilised.”

Following this announcement, many took to the comments section to extend their well-wishes to the governor. However, uncertainty surrounded the accuracy of the report, leading to speculation.

In response to the confusion, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, released a statement clarifying the situation. He confirmed that the accident was minor and assured the public of the governor’s stable condition.

“Governor Malam Dikko Umaru Radda was involved in a minor road accident this evening along the Daura-Katsina Road while fulfilling his official duties for the people of Katsina State,” Mohammed stated.

“We are pleased to report that the Governor is in good health and remains stable, with no serious injuries. As a precaution, he is undergoing routine medical evaluation at a medical facility, attended by qualified medical professionals. Governor Radda is in high spirits and expresses his gratitude to Almighty Allah for His protection, as well as to the citizens of Katsina and well-wishers for their prayers and concern.”

It remains unclear whether the governor was returning from visiting former President Muhammadu Buhari’s residence at the time of the incident. Since Buhari’s passing exactly one week ago, Radda has made several visits to Daura. He notably trended during the late President’s burial, visibly emotional as military honors were paid shortly before Buhari’s remains were laid to rest.
