Residents of Durbi Takusheri in the Mani Local Government Area of Katsina State have called on the government to address the worsening condition of their roads and the ongoing water scarcity affecting their community.
Speaking on behalf of the community leader, resident Murtala Yusuf urged Governor Dikko Umar Radda to honour his commitment to repair the road leading to their area.
“We appreciate the governor’s dedication, but we implore him to fix our road as he promised,” Yusuf stated.
He also emphasised the community’s challenges regarding water supply, explaining that while there are boreholes, they are no longer operational.
“As our community continues to expand, the existing water sources can no longer adequately serve our people,” he added.
In addition, Yusuf called upon the government to provide farmers with fertiliser before the commencement of the next farming season to enhance agricultural productivity.
“Our area is peaceful, and we are fully engaged in farming. If fertilisers are supplied on time, it will greatly benefit us,” he noted.
The Chairman of the Mani Local Government Area, Inusa Muhammad Sani, recently informed journalists that the council is working towards providing social amenities in rural communities.
He stated that, in addition to ongoing improvements in healthcare facilities, roads, and culverts across the local government area, the council has also distributed 13,000 bags of fertiliser, farming implements, and improved seedlings to farmers.
Residents remain hopeful that the government will take swift action to improve infrastructure and support agricultural activities, ensuring a better quality of life for the community.
