In the midst of debates surrounding the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Kano Governorship Judgment, the Court of Appeal steps in to clarify and dismiss any concerns.
Addressing the authenticity issue, the court attributes discrepancies to a mere clerical error, emphasizing that it holds no sway over the decision-making process.
In a move to rectify the situation, Chief Registrar Umar M. Bangari, Esq.
ensures a prompt correction once the concerned parties officially file applications for the amendment. Upholding Order 23 Rule 4 of the Court of Appeal Handbook, the court asserts its authority to rectify clerical errors upon discovery.
Yusuf’s Challenge to Supreme Court
Amidst the legal saga, Abba Yusuf, ousted from the governorship, escalates his fight by taking the case to the Supreme Court.
This follows the initial declaration by INEC, naming Yusuf, the NNPP candidate, as the victor of the 2023 gubernatorial election in Kano. However, the state governorship election petitions tribunal overturns this, proclaiming Nasiru Gawuna of the APC as the rightful winner.
The Court of Appeal subsequently upholds this ruling.
Notably, the Certified True Copy of the judgment unveils an intriguing directive, seemingly instructing the APC to pay Governor Yusuf N1 million.
This suggests a favourable inclination towards the NNPP candidate, adding a layer of complexity to the already convoluted legal proceedings.
As the legal battle unfolds, the public awaits the Supreme Court’s verdict, eager to discern the final resolution of the Kano Governorship dispute.
