Senator Sunday Marshall Katung, representing the Kaduna South senatorial district, has called upon his supporters to rally behind the re-election of President Bola Tinubu and Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani in the upcoming 2027 general election.
In a recent statement, Katung distanced himself from unauthorised remarks allegedly made by individuals claiming to be his supporters, which were critical of the Kaduna State Government and Governor Sani.
Katung recently made headlines by defecting from the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser for Media and Communications, Joseph Midat, the senator expressed his concerns over both written and verbal comments attributed to these individuals. He labelled such statements as unverified and inconsistent with his long-standing reputation and values.
The statement emphasised that these utterances contradict Senator Katung’s commitment to peace, unity, collaboration, and sustainable development in Southern Kaduna—principles he has tirelessly championed over the years.
Katung’s office reiterated his unwavering support for the administrations of President Tinubu and Governor Sani, underscoring their second-term aspirations.
He urged his genuine supporters to exercise restraint and avoid any actions or communications that could disrupt the prevailing atmosphere of peace and cooperation.
“The Media Office of Senator Sunday Marshall Katung has noted with concern that some individuals identifying as his supporters have made both written and verbal statements that are unauthorised, unverified, and critical of the Kaduna State Government and His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani.”
The statement further clarified, “It is crucial for all supporters to recognise that Senator Katung holds President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the highest regard. He remains steadfastly committed to their leadership, their aspirations for re-election, and the overall success of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.”
“For clarity, Senator Katung is diligently working alongside other leaders to ensure that Southern Kaduna receives the attention, inclusion, and developmental support it rightfully deserves from all levels of government.”
