The Kaduna State Government has launched a major initiative to revitalize secondary healthcare by reconstructing, remodeling, and equipping nine general hospitals that have been neglected for over 20 years.
This effort is part of a broader strategy to improve healthcare infrastructure across the state, ensuring that residents have access to quality medical services.
Dr. Ahmed Abdullahi, Acting Special Adviser to the Governor on Project Monitoring, Implementation, and Results Delivery, announced the initiative on Monday in Kaduna. He highlighted that the General Hospital in Maigana, located in the Soba Local Government Area, is the central focus of this transformative project and is undergoing a comprehensive overhaul.
Under the leadership of Governor Uba Sani, the state government is committed to upgrading these long-neglected healthcare facilities.
The transformation of the General Hospital in Maigana is expected to serve as a model for enhancing healthcare infrastructure and improving service delivery throughout Kaduna State.
The initiative involves the selection of three general hospitals from each Senatorial Zone for equitable upgrades. The hospitals selected for this vital project include:
Zone 1:General Hospital Ikara, General Hospital Maigana (Soba LGA), General Hospital Saminaka (Lere LGA)
Zone 2:General Hospital Rigasa (Igabi LGA), General Hospital Giwa (Giwa LGA), General Hospital Sabon Tasha (Chikun LGA)
Zone 3:General Hospital Gwantu (Sanga LGA), Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa Hospital (Kafanchan, Jema’a LGA), General Hospital Kachia (Kachia LGA)
Dr. Abdullahi emphasized that the strategic selection of these hospitals reflects Governor Sani’s commitment to equitable leadership and the balanced development of healthcare infrastructure across the state.
This initiative addresses long-standing disparities in healthcare access and quality among different regions.
