The candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Chikun/Kajuru Federal Constituency bye-election, Hon. Joseph Bagudu, has applauded voters for what he described as a “massive turnout” during Saturday’s supplementary polls.

Bagudu, who spoke with journalists shortly after casting his ballot at Polling Unit 003, Ungwan Madaki, Kanla, in Kajuru Local Government Area, said the exercise had been peaceful and orderly.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had scheduled the election to fill the vacant Chikun/Kajuru seat following the death of Hon. Ekene Adams, the Labour Party lawmaker who represented the constituency until his demise on 16th July 2024.

The APC candidate expressed optimism about his chances, noting that the turnout reflected the confidence voters had in the ruling party. He attributed this, in part, to what he called the “sterling leadership” of Governor Uba Sani.

According to him, “The conduct of today’s election shows the people’s acceptance of our party and the leadership style of Governor Uba Sani. I believe this confidence will not only translate into victory at the polls but will also ensure that the APC is returned in the 2027 general elections.”

Bagudu also urged voters to remain law-abiding and to shun acts capable of disrupting the peaceful atmosphere recorded so far in the exercise.

“We must continue to conduct ourselves peacefully to ensure a hitch-free election,” he added.
