Barrister Mohammad Sani Abbas, governorship candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) for the 2027 Kaduna State election, has called on residents to scrutinise candidates thoroughly and elect a leader capable of restoring the state’s lost glory.

Speaking with journalists in Kaduna, Abbas expressed deep concern over the state’s decline, noting that Kaduna—once the pride of Northern Nigeria—now lags severely in infrastructure and essential services.

“We must be honest with ourselves,” Abbas stated. “Are we better off today than we were years ago? Security has collapsed; killings, abductions and displacement of communities have become routine. Billions of naira worth of property have been lost. Roads and social amenities are neglected, even within urban areas. The people are suffering in silence.”

The NDC flagbearer urged voters to break free from self-deception and entrust leadership to someone competent and credible.

“I have spent years in politics, building relationships across all wards and bridging divides,” he added. “My supporters believe in my capacity to deliver tangible change.”

Abbas further criticised the ruling party, asserting that no sensible Nigerian would support a government that has failed so spectacularly. “The time has come for citizens to take control of their destiny and elect only reputable candidates in 2027,” he declared.

Campaign Director Speaks on Candidate’s Track Record

Alhaji Ibrahim Kaya, Director General of Abbas’s campaign and Coordinator of the OK Movement in Kaduna State, said voters would no longer be swayed by empty promises.

“Barrister Abbas is a legal practitioner and banker with over 45 years of experience,” Kaya noted. “He is credible, competent, and a man of his word. He will restore Kaduna’s premier status as the capital of Northern Nigeria in infrastructure, social services and development.”

Kwankwasiyya Movement Pledges Support

Alhaji Mohammed Ahmed Aliyu Idris, Kaduna State Coordinator of the Kwankwasiyya movement, confirmed that members are fully behind Abbas and are mobilising massively for the NDC.

“We will not be intimidated or confused by other parties,” Idris said. “We remain focused on securing victory for Barrister Abbas and all NDC candidates in 2027.”
