LAGOS — On Tuesday morning, a Federal High Court in Lagos acquitted former Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, of all charges in a protracted money laundering trial initiated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The court upheld Fayose’s no-case submission, determining that the prosecution did not establish a prima facie case that would necessitate a defence.
Fayose faced accusations of money laundering and fraud during his governorship. However, after extensive legal proceedings, the court concluded that the evidence presented by the EFCC was inadequate to support the allegations.
