Smart technology brand itel has emerged a dominant force at the Africa’s Beacon of ICT Merit and Leadership Awards, securing three major honours in a night that highlighted its growing influence in Africa’s digital space.

The event, hosted by Nigerian Communications Week at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Lekki, Lagos, celebrated industry leaders driving innovation in technology and communication across the continent.

itel walked away with awards for its Power 70 smartphone, City 100 mobile phone, and BudsFit 5 wireless earbuds — a feat that drew praise from stakeholders and customers alike.

The itel Power 70 was named Most Innovative Smartphone of the Year. With its unique dual-power system — a 6,000mAh internal battery and a 4,000mAh charging case — the device is the first of its kind in Nigeria. Its IP54 rating and reverse charging capability make it a rugged yet efficient solution for users on the move.

In the customer-focused category, the itel City 100 earned the title of Customer Choice Mobile Phone of the Year. Designed for Gen Z urbanites, the phone features a magnetic speaker, DeepSeek AI, and a built-in infrared remote control, delivering style and versatility at an accessible price.

Meanwhile, the itel BudsFit 5 won Most Attractive Mobile Accessory of the Year. With a 32-hour total playtime, AI-powered noise cancellation, and water resistance, the earbuds blend fashion with high-performance audio.

Speaking on behalf of the brand, Dolapo Olorun-Nimbe, ATL Marketing Manager at itel Nigeria, said the recognition was a testament to itel’s user-first design philosophy.

Terngu Simeon Shagba, itel’s Public Relations Supervisor, described the awards as a validation of the brand’s core mission.

“This triple recognition is not just for us as a brand — it’s for every customer who believes in affordable, cutting-edge technology,” he stated.

The Africa’s Beacon of ICT Awards is one of the most respected platforms in Nigeria’s tech ecosystem, spotlighting excellence and leadership in information and communications technology.

itel’s success at the event reinforces its reputation as a major player in democratising smart technology across Africa. With operations in over 80 emerging markets and a growing product portfolio, the brand continues to shape the continent’s digital future.
