In a significant move, Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, has orchestrated the reassignment of 54 Assistant Commissioners of Police (ACPs) to spearhead the Intelligence Department at both Zonal and State Commands across the nation.
In a statement released by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, on Tuesday, this strategic deployment aligns with the IGP’s commitment to elevating the intelligence capabilities of the Police Force to combat the rising crime rate in the country.
With a renewed focus on intelligence, the IGP, since assuming office, reactivated the Presidential approval to elevate the Force Intelligence Bureau to a Department, appointing DIG Habu Sanni to lead this new intelligence frontier.
The newly appointed Senior Officers are entrusted with harnessing all intelligence-based assets to tackle crimes and criminal activities within their respective jurisdictions.
The IGP emphasizes the immediate implementation of this deployment, urging the officers to bring professionalism and vast experience to fortify the existing intelligence architecture of the Force.
