The Orlu Progressive Initiative, a sociopolitical pressure group, has called on President Bola Tinubu to intervene in the fight against insecurity in Orlu and other areas of Imo.

The organisation made the call in a statement by its Executive Director, Mr Ikechukwu Nwabueze, and made available to newsmen in Owerri, on Tuesday.
He called for synergy between the Federal Government and relevant stakeholders such as traditional rulers and religious leaders to improve the security situation.
He called on Imo people to come together to make peace and reconcile from every dispute and grievance so as to embrace development.
He also pledged the group’s readiness to partner with the Federal Government and security agencies to achieve in the area and the area at large.
“ Our brothers and sisters living away from home can no longer come home because of fear of uncertainties and this is why we are calling for President Bola Tinubu’s direct intervention.
“This development is certainly unhealthy and heart-breaking and government at all levels must not shy away from the numerous challenges ravaging the zone ,” he said.

He urged Government at all levels to rise and seek a lasting solution towards restoring peace, order, development and confidence in Orlu and Imo at large.
He added that the organisation stands for social well-being of the people of Orlu, Imo and Nigeria by extension, adding that part of the organisation’s plans was to take statistics and data of people who are directly affected by the current situation in the land.
“Our group’s initiative has nothing to do with politics of Imo or Nigeria but our initiative is people-oriented and non governmental. (NAN)
