An aspirant for the Imo East Senatorial District under the ruling All Progressives Congress, Hon. Belusochukwu M. Enwere, has withdrawn from the 2027 Senate race.
Enwere announced his withdrawal in a statement made available to journalists in Abuja on Monday.
He said the decision followed wide consultations with his family, supporters, political associates and leaders of the party.
According to him, stepping down from the contest was necessary in the interest of peace, unity and progress of the people of the senatorial district.
“This decision was not easy, but it was taken in the interest of peace, unity, and the progress of our people,” he stated.
The APC chieftain expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, for the support extended to him during his aspiration.
He also thanked members of the APC and his supporters for believing in his vision and standing by him throughout the political process.
Enwere, however, assured his supporters that he remained committed to the development of Imo East Senatorial District and would continue contributing to the growth of the party and society.
He urged his supporters to remain calm, united and continue supporting the collective interest of the people.
