The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has officially addressed the arrest of convicted cross-dresser Idris Okuneye, widely known as Bobrisky, a prominent social media figure.
NIS spokesperson, Kenneth Udo, confirmed the arrest in a statement released on Monday in Abuja.
Udo revealed that Bobrisky was apprehended at the Seme Border while attempting to leave Nigeria.
“To uphold our commitment to border security, the NIS intercepted Idris Okuneye, also known as Bobrisky, at the Seme Border as he tried to exit the country,” Udo stated.
“The Service would like to inform the public that Idris Okuneye is a person of interest regarding recent public concerns.
“He is currently undergoing interrogation and will be transferred to the relevant authorities for further action.
“The Service assures the public of its dedication to maintaining professionalism and civility in its duty to manage the country’s borders,” he added.
