IGP Igbetokun emphasized the crucial role the Nigeria Police plays in sustaining democracy, saying their efforts have ensured the stability and security of the country.

This milestone celebration is a testament to Nigeria’s growth and resilience as a democratic nation. The National Democracy Stakeholders Summit (NDSS) organized the Nigeria Democracy Week, which kicked off with a ceremony on Monday in Abuja.

Earlier Dr. Kletsaint Akor, Chairman of the Proponent Council of the National Democracy Stakeholders Group (NDSG), kicked off the celebration with a powerful message. He highlighted Nigeria’s democratic milestones, emphasizing the crucial role of citizen participation in shaping the country’s future.

Dr. Akor stressed the need for accountability, inclusion, and strategic reforms as Nigeria charts its democratic course. He noted that Nigeria’s democracy has endured for 25 years through resilience and collective resolve, calling for reflection, acknowledgment of achievements, and a renewed commitment to addressing challenges .

As Nigeria celebrates this significant milestone, it’s essential to recognize the progress made and the challenges that still lie ahead. The next 25 years of democracy should deliver peace, prosperity, and a brighter future for all Nigerians. Akor Said

The opening ceremony featured goodwill messages from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Department of State Service, Nigeria Correctional Services, and the Judiciary. The National Democracy Stakeholders Summit (NDSS) is a week-long series of engagements aimed at promoting democratic governance and citizenship participation.

The NDSS is an initiative that brings together key stakeholders to celebrate Nigeria’s remarkable 25 years of sustained democracy. This one-week series of engagements not only honors this milestone but also provides a platform to tackle pressing issues shaping the nation’s governance and development.

The NDSS offers a unique opportunity for Nigerians to reflect on their democratic journey, acknowledging achievements and addressing challenges. By doing so, it fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility among citizens, promoting active participation in the country’s democratic process.

As Nigeria continues to navigate its democratic path, the NDSS plays a vital role in promoting dialogue, collaboration, and inclusive governance. By celebrating 25 years of sustained democracy, Nigerians can reaffirm their commitment to democratic principles and work collectively towards a brighter future.
