Fanfare and celebration filled the air on Saturday, December 28, 2024, as the Attah Igala, HRM Agabaidu (Dr) Mathew Alaji Opaluwa, Oguche Akpa II (CON), conferred titles on prominent sons of the Igala Kingdom in a colorful ceremony at his palace in Idah.

Among the honorees was Alhaji Rufai Yahaya, a former Chief Operating Officer of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST), who was beaded as Ogah Attah. Chief Isaiah Daniel, a Director at the Federal Ministry of Education, was also coronated during the event.

In his address, the Attah Igala lauded the honorees for their hard work, dedication, and loyalty to the Igala Kingdom and the larger society. He urged them to serve as role models for Igala youths and emphasized the importance of unity and development among the people.

“Those who extol Igala virtues and contribute meaningfully to the kingdom will always be recognized and celebrated,” the monarch stated.

The ceremony was attended by notable dignitaries and well-wishers from within and outside the kingdom, including Makoji Aduku, Chairman of Energy Portfolios; Senator Shehu Sani; Professor Armstrong Idachaba, former Director-General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC); Collins Onuche, former Director of the Department of State Services (DSS); Paul Ukwenya, Silas Ahiaba of the NNPC; Abdul Ibrahim, SAN; and many others.

The coronation highlighted the kingdom’s rich cultural heritage and the Attah’s commitment to honoring those who uphold Igala values.
